Two runners over the weekend

Friday, September 5, 2014
AVIATOR and MAJOR CRISPIES are the 2 runners this weekend. AVIATOR heads south for Kempton tomorrow to run in a 1 mile 3 furlong handicap. He ran a good race there last time and the form of that race has worked out well. He finished 2 1/2 lengths behind the winner, TREASURE THE RIDGE,  who has subsequently won a £60,000 handicap at Sandown. AVIATOR wore blinkers that day but he seemed to be slightly startled when the other 2 horses came by him. He will be wearing a visor tomorrow in the hope that this will suit him better. He seems in good form at home and one feels a big run is imminent. He is certainly capable of running well on his best foreign form.
MAJOR CRISPIES heads North on Sunday to York. He runs in a 6 furlong handicap and is drawn 15 of the 15 runners. This is probably a good draw on the straight track. The ground will be fast which is in his favour but he is still plenty high enough in the weights. Graham Lee will be on board for the first time but he should suit him well.
