Ice Slice on trial for Royal Ascot

Friday, May 30, 2014
ICE SLICE runs in a mile handicap at Newmarket tomorrow. This is the last opportunity to run him to see if he could run in the Britannia Handicap at Royal Ascot. A lot of trainers are in the same boat so it does look a very hot contest. The ground is likely to be good/soft tomorrow which is the same conditions as Nottingham last time out when he won. We still think he would prefer better ground so we would be happy to see the ground dry out a bit. We  have been very pleased with him since his win at Nottingham so he should run well. He would need to win tomorrow to go up enough to get in the Brittania but if he doesn't he is still a nice horse and we would make another plan. There are plenty of other suitable races for him during the rest of the season.
