Scottish Star seeks Hat-Trick at Lingfield

Thursday, March 20, 2014

SCOTTISH STAR and MAJOR CRISPIES  run at Lingfield on Saturday, they are both course winners this year. SCOTTISH STAR runs in a 12 furlong handicap and there are 9 runners. He is looking for his hat-trick but will be stepping up in class. This will be his first run in a Class 3 race but he just gets into the handicap and Ryan Tate takes a useful 5 pounds off his back. He has had a break after his last win and has been aimed at this race. He is in good form at home and is a course and distance winner so should run well.

MAJOR CRISPIES is also stepping up in class and trip, he runs in a 7 furlong Listed race. He is now rated 94 so has to have a go at this level. It looks a red hot race and there are 13 runners. He has raced against the favourite ERTIJAAL, in his first run as a 2 year old, he was one place in front of MAJOR CRISPIES that day finishing second, he then went on to a win a maiden very easily but has been off the track since then. It will be interesting to see how they match up against each other this year. Neither have been done any favours by the draw, MAJOR CRISPIES is in 11 but this may not be the end of the world for him as he is a horse who likes to see some daylight. ERTIJAAL is drawn even wider in 13. MAJOR CRISPIES has certainly improved significantly at home since his first race this year so it will be interesting to see how he runs. If he happens to win then he is certain to get a run in the Championship race on Good Friday, whatever the outcome he will qualify for the race after this run but may not make the cut. With so much prizemoney on offer it is definitely a race worth considering.
