War Artist warms up in Dubai

Tuesday, February 09, 2010

WAR ARTIST is ready for his first run on the new track in Dubai on Thursday. There are 12 runners and he is drawn 7. The surface is obviously completely new to him and racing around a bend caught him out in Hong Kong but he is better drawn this time. Hopefully Olivier Peslier will be able to get him covered up early on in the race and produce him with a run once they hit the straight. The 2 runners to fear most are OUR GIANT and GAYEGO, trained by Mike de Kock and Godolphin respectively. This is very much a warm up race for WAR ARTIST for a race over 6 furlongs  on the straight turf track on March 5th. If he runs well then he could get a chance to run in the big sprint race on World Cup night. He will hopefully run well on Thursday but it all depends on how much he will need this race.
WINTER FEVER returns to Lingfield on Saturday night to run in a very similar race to his last run when he was only beaten 1/2 length. He meets the winner that day on 1 pound better terms. It is a very tight handicap and it all depends on what pace they go, a faster pace will help his chances. If he gets some luck in running he is very capable of winning this contest.
