War Artist on his way to Hong Kong

Sunday, December 06, 2009

WAR ARTIST left Park Lodge Stables yesterday afternoon and should have arrived in Hong Kong 22 hours later. The first leg of the journey has gone well apparently so hopefully he will arrive in a healthy state. Big D is already there and has made preparations for his arrival. James and Gay Eustace are heading there tomorrow and the race is next Sunday.
It is a very tough race but his preparation at home has gone very smoothly and he appears to be in as good a form at home as he has been all year. He worked well at Kempton 10 days ago. The trainer and the Park Lodge team have done all they can so one just hopes he takes the journey well and gets a bit of luck in running. The race is over 6 furlongs and the ground should be fast. These are his ideal conditions. The race is in a right handed track but he has won in South Africa round a right hand bend and he appeared to handle the Kempton track well. He is not a natural 5 furlong horse so he should step on his Abbaye form, going an extra furlong on fast ground. The anticipated fast early pace should play into his hands so fingers crossed for a big run. It would be a great Christmas present for the whole team if he can run a big race. We wish them all the best of luck.
