Gallant second for Wester Ross today

Thursday, November 19, 2009

WESTER ROSS put up yet another good performance over hurdles today finishing second at Huntingdon to a class horse on the flat. WESTER ROSS is rated 42 pounds inferior to SERETH on the flat but over hurdles today was carrying 7 pounds more than him due to his winner's penalty. It was a fair effort to finish as close to him as he did. He certainly seems to be enjoying his hurdling and is giving his owner, Peter Hillman, some fun over the winter months.
On Saturday at Kempton the flat string are in action. TORREN SOUND, a 2 year old gelding by Tobougg, makes his racecourse debut. He is potentially a nice horse for the future but has been very tricky in the stalls at home. Hopefully he will behave himself on Saturday and run a nice race. He will need further in time but James Eustace was keen to run him at Kempton first time out as it is the most straightforward of the all weather tracks.
LORD OF THE DANCE runs at the same meeting in a mile handicap. He was third over this trip last week and has also been third at Kempton but over 7 furlongs. He will be wearing blinkers for the first time as he works better at home than he has so far shown in his races. Hopefully the headgear will have the desired effect and he will show a bit more on the track. If he does it will give him a very good chance.
