War Artist on trial in France

Thursday, September 10, 2009

WAR ARTIST is running in a trial for the Prix de L'Abbaye when he contests the Group 3 Prix du Petit Couvert at Longchamp this Sunday. This will be the first time he has run in France so he can add it to his portfolio of countries visited. The distance is 5 furlongs and it will be interesting to see how effective he is over this shorter trip. There are only 7 runners and the only other English runner is Benbaun, who looks the one to beat. Tiza would be the best of the french challengers. WAR ARTIST carries a penalty for his recent group 2 win but he is the form horse. He will be ridden by top French jockey, Olivier Peslier, who is keen to ride him in the Prix de L'Abbaye too if all goes well on Sunday.
GENEVA GEYSER has been found an ideal race at Doncaster tomorrow. it is a 0-85 classified stakes race over 10 furlongs, as he is rated 85 he is well in. The ground will suit him as it is at the moment, the faster the better. Hopefully the won't put too much water on between now and then. He has got a bad draw, 12 of 12, but he will aim to make the running so as long as he can break well he can hopefully overcome this. He is in good form at home so a good run is expected aslong as the draw is not a hinderance.
