Handicap debut for Apache Song tomorrow

Tuesday, November 28, 2017
APACHE SONG makes her handicap debut in a mares only 2 mile handicap hurdle at Hereford tomorrow. The race has only attracted 5 runners but it is an open contest. She did nothing wrong when she won at Market Rasen last time out and we have been waiting to find the right race for her. The form of that race has worked out well as the second and third have won since but off handicap marks of 10 or 11 pounds below APACHE SONG's rating so it remains to be seen if she she has been given a realistic mark. We think the track will suit her but we don't know how she will handle the ground which rather surprisingly is still good to firm.  Trevor Whelan, fresh from his big win at Ascot on Saturday on Lil Rockerfeller, rides her. He gets on well with her as he rode her when she was second on her first run over hurdles. We are nervous about the ground but given the small number of runners we thought it was worth having a go.
