NEXT TRAIN'S GONE became our first flat winner of the year and COVERHAM came within inches of making it a double on the day. NEXT TRAIN'S GONE, like the rest of the family, is clearly improving with age and looks a nice prospect. He was hard to train last year as he was so immature but we have had an uninterrupted run with him this year and we hope he can now go on to better things. He surprised as last year by winning at the back end of the season and he surprised us again yesterday by winning from the front. We didn't think he was experienced enough to make the running but Ryan Tate wisely took the decision to take the lead when their was no pace in the race. It was a good tactical ride.
We think this was the 20th winner from the mare which is a great achievement and a great thrill for owner breeder Harold Nass. He is now breeding from the half sister IRON BUTTERFLY and she is in foal to Mount Nelson and due very soon. Hopefully there will be more winners to come from the family in the future!
