Perceus chance at Sandown tomorrow

Friday, February 5, 2016
PERCEUS takes on older horses for the first time tomorrow in the 2 1/2 mile handicap hurdle at Sandown and there are 9 runners. He had the option of running in the juvenile hurdle but the  longer trip should suit him better and he gets an 11 pound weight-for-age-allowance which could prove useful. We will test this theory out tomorrow! He stays well and has shown he acts on heavy ground so the ground will be fine for him. He has been in good form since his last run at Huntingdon and schooled well under Jack Quinlan on Wednesday, he rides him again tomorrow. He is running off a rating of 124 which is a fair mark and we hope he can run a decent race tomorrow.
IRON BUTTERFLY ran a career best race today at Catterick to finish second to HAINAN who she was giving 8 pounds to. She is so genuine and tried all the way to the line. She is now qualified for the Challenger Staying Hurdle Final at Haydock on 26th March, Easter Saturday, so that will be her target. She may have one more run in between but as she runs well fresh she could just wait for this race.
