Two chances tomorrow

Friday, May 15, 2015
SPA'S DANCER and SANDY COVE both have chances tomorrow but both run in big field handicaps so will need things to fall their way. SPA'S DANCER runs in a mile handicap at Newbury and is drawn 3 of the 17 runners. It is a straight mile there so not sure if that is a good draw at this stage. He was second at Newbury in the Spring Cup last year so we know the track suits him. He has been in really good form at home since his recent run at Chester so we thought it was worth taking his chance again tomorrow. He finished 4th last time out from a bad draw and the form is working out well. When we declared him to run we were expecting Newbury to get more rain than it did so if the ground does dry out he will be withdrawn.
SANDY COVE heads North to Doncaster where they have missed the rain so he should get the fast ground that he prefers. There are 20 runners and he is not ideally drawn in stall 20. It is an apprentice race and hopefully they will go a good pace which will give him a better chance of getting a good position from that draw. Louis Steward takes the ride who is very experienced in the context of the race, he has ridden plenty of big winners. SANDY COVE has been in good form on the all weather and so we are hopeful of a good run. he will obviously need a bit of luck in running from that draw but he should give a good account of himself.
